When does this privacy policy apply?
This privacy policy applies to all personal data that SSI processes from anyone who has ever had contact with SSI, such as our visitors, customers and suppliers. SSI reserves the right to share this data with companies within its own group. SSI includes the following websites:

What is personal data?
Personal data is all data that is related to you as an individual e.g. your name, telephone number, Chamber of Commerce & VAT number, address or e-mail address. Data such as your IP address or SSI customer number and other data that is unique to you, such as order details or online behaviour is also personal data.

Whose personal data do we process and how do we get this data?
We process the personal data of anyone who has (or has had) direct or indirect contact with SSI, such as customers and suppliers. We receive the information directly from you when you visit our website, create an account and enter certain information, when we meet you at a trade show, or when you contact us. We can also use publicly accessible data such as that available your own website. In some cases, we receive your information from third parties. For example, when you order goods from us via one of our distributors or agents, we receive your name and address. We may also receive data from other third parties, but only if you have given those parties express permission to provide us with said data.

What information do we process about you, what do we use it for and how long will it be kept for?

Data required to process orders
When you place an order, we need certain information from you to be able to deliver your order and to keep you informed about the progress of your order. This information is also required for any returns or repairs. To these ends, we collect your name, e-mail address, delivery address(es), payment details and your telephone number. This data is the minimum required to execute the from the order ensuing agreement that you entered into with us. We are required by law to store the data related to your order for a period of 7 years.

Data for administrative purposes
SSI is legally required to process certain data for some administrative purposes like book keeping, accounting and taxes. For example, we are obligated to provide the tax inspector with all fiscally relevant information and our accountant may need to inspect our records for audits.

Data in your SSI personal online account
We store the following information in your personal account: your (company) name, company and delivery address(es), telephone number, e-mail address, payment information, VAT number, Chamber of Commerce number and website URL. We also store your order history in your account, including shipping and delivery details. In addition, we store the mailing and personalisation preferences that you specify in your account. We make the promise to you as our valued customer to make doing business easier and more enjoyable. That is why we keep the data in your account as long as you are an active customer with us. If you have not logged in or ordered from us for a period of 7 years, we will delete all your data, except for the data that we are obligated or authorised to retain by law. In addition, you can request at any time to have your data removed. If you would like to have us remove your data, please contact us.

Data concerning your contact with our customer service
You can contact customer service by calling us, e-mailing or sending a message via social media, such as Facebook. We have legitimate reason to use these interactions to further improve our services.

Data for an optimal shopping experience
Our product collection comprises over 5.400 products. We would like to help you find what you are looking for among all these products. First of all, we ensure that our website works well so as to optimise your purchase experience. To these ends, when you visit the SSI website(s), we collect your IP address, information about your internet browser, any language settings and information about the settings of the operating system of the computer or the mobile device you use to visit us. We also ensure that the website is as relevant as possible by tailoring our site to your personal preferences. To do this, we collect your search, click and purchase behaviour during your visits to the SSI website. We use this data for mapping out generic customer patterns so that we can use them at an individual level. This is not so much about knowledge about you as an individual customer. We make the promise to you as our valued customer to make doing business easier and more enjoyable. That is why we keep the data in your account as long as you are an active customer with us. If you have not logged in or ordered from us for a period of 7 years, we will delete all your data.

Improving shopping experiences based on general information and sales statistics
When you view a product on the SSI website, you can also see other products that we recommend (for example, under the heading “Hot Products” or “Others also bought”). These recommendations are based on the product or category that you are currently viewing. Based on statistics, we know that customers who bought that product were also interested in the other recommended products. These recommendations are not personal - everyone who views that product sees the same recommendations.

Personalisation based on your account details and search, online and purchase history
If you are logged in to our website as an active client, we can customise your shopping experience further. We analyse what you have previously looked for or bought from us, what is in your shopping cart and what interests you have shown by viewing specific products on our website. We do that based on your surfing, search and purchase behaviour and look back no more than two years. We collect this data based on cookie techniques, your IP address and the unique number that is linked to the device you use to go online. Our interest in applying this personalisation is to make your life easier and our services better. You will find what you are looking for faster and will not be disturbed by products and categories that are not relevant to you.

Self-set preferences
You can indicate your preferences with us in various places on the SSI website. For example, you may want to be kept informed of something.

Data for marketing

Personalised e-mails
We regularly have special offers, promotions and news that we want to share with you. We prefer to do this via e-mail. If you have an account with us or have expressed an interest in a partnership, we can e-mail you with information about our products and services. If you prefer not to receive this type of information, you can immediately unsubscribe via my details.

Internal market research
Market research within SSI is very important in further improving our services to our customers. The results of internal market research are reported on an aggregated and anonymous basis only. This means that the results cannot be traced back to individual customers. We therefore have the right to keep the results for an unlimited amount of time and share them with third parties.

Data from customer surveys
We are constantly improving our services and better aligning them with what our customers want. It is therefore possible that we may use your data (name, e-mail address and/or telephone number) to invite you to participate in a non-obligatory customer/market research. You can help to further improve our services this way. The length of time your data is linked to the results of the customer/market research varies depending on the research.

Data for competitions and promotions
If you participate in a promotion or competition, we will ask you for information, such as your name, address and/or e-mail address. We need this to be able to realise the promotion and to announce and/or contact the prize winner(s). We collect this data with your permission only. You can find out exactly what your data is used for and how long we keep it for in the conditions of the competition or promotion in question.

Creditworthiness
If you buy from us on account, we may check your creditworthiness. We may use external agencies for this.

Social media
If you use social media such as Facebook or LinkedIn, you can use the 'like and share' buttons to share SSI products and/or messages that you find fun or useful on your social media account. SSI will not have access to your social media account. We recommend that you carefully read the privacy policy of the social media parties with whom you have an account so that you know how your data is used and how you can adjust your settings.

With whom will your data be shared?

Logistics partners
We work with logistics partners such as DPD, FreightNed and Dachser when processing your order. These parties will receive your customer number, VAT number, order number, name, telephone number, e-mail and delivery address so that they are able to process and deliver your order in the correct manner.

Other third-party service providers
We also engage other third-party service providers to assist with various processes. Sometimes they also require personal data. We only share information that is necessary to provide the service that the third-party service provider has been contracted for. We do not sell your data to these service providers or other third parties and we procure contracts with all third-party service providers in which we stipulate what they are authorised to do with the data. The types of services that our third-party service providers provide for us are:

The government
On occasion, we are obligated to pass on personal data to the government. This is primarily the case when specific government bodies need this information in order to perform their duties, such as the Tax Authority. The police or judicial authorities may also require certain information in the case of fraud or abuse. Finally, some enforcement agencies, such as customs, can gain access to personal data in the context of a particular investigation.

Where do we store your data?
We store your data within the European Economic Area (EEA). However, it is possible that some data that we collect is transferred to or stored at a location outside the EEA, for example because one of our third-party service providers is located there. If this is the case, we ensure that this is done in a safe and lawful manner.

How is your data protected?
SSI takes many measures to protect your personal data, both organisationally and technically. We engage specialists who work to keep our systems secure and look for vulnerabilities. We use a strict access control system to ensure that your personal data is only accessible to those employees for whom it is absolutely necessary to work with it. If we pass your information on to anyone else, we postulate that this other party is to handle your data just as carefully as we do. If you feel that this is not the case, let us know via contact us.
